The inaugral Coopers Edge Fete

The first ever Coopers Edge Fete was a great success. All our sun dancing paid off and we were rewarded with a nice day (barring the odd shower). The strong winds did take out several gazebos however that could not dampen everyone’s spirits and it was fantastic to see so many people turn out for this event.
The bouncy castle and soft play were a great success and our local PCSO’s security tagged almost every bike in the estate (or so they said). The fire engine was one of the most popular attractions with the children and mothers alike and we have raised over £200 towards equipment for the temporary community centre.
Our new Community Organiser, Bill Booth will be working through all the volunteer forms and suggestions that were filled in on the day and will be getting in touch with people in the near future.
I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped in any way on the day, from selling raffle tickets, to litter picking to supervising the bouncy castle. We could not have done it without out you.
Lots of people said that they wanted another fete next year and we’d love to organise a bigger and better event, so if anyone is interested in getting involved you can never start planning too early!

Setting up for the Fete

All our volunteers have been working really hard today setting up for the fete. Here are a few pictures of what they have been up to. If you’re coming to the fete tomorrow please help out the volunteers by using the rubbish bins provided so there is less hard work to do at the end.

The Temporary Community Centre arriving

It might not look like much at the moment, but we have got it in Coopers Edge now! The next step is to do it up and get it open for residents to use! You will be able to find out more at the fete on Sunday.

The latest edge news and how to get tickets for the community fete

Over the weekend of the 7th and 8th of May the latest Edgy News will be delivered – a copy has also been posted to the blog. In it are details of how to get tickets to the community fete. Your Fete is a special event to launch the community development project for Coopers Edge. Funded by the Neighbourhood Challenge Fund, your Fete is a get-together to which all Coopers Edge residents are invited. The Fete will take place in the middle of Coopers Edge, at Wotton Brook Park, across the road from the school and temporary community centre, and the new kissing gate to our boundary footbath. Tickets will be provided on request, so that we know how many to cater for. The tickets are free to all living in Coopers Edge who request them with the application form in the newsletter which you can post into the large white post box by at the school site, or you can email your details to cespcg@coopersedgeschool.co.uk, or by leave a voicemail on 07923599526.

Again – if anyone is interested in helping with the fete we would love to hear from you. Many thanks for all your support.

Community Fete Planning in full swing….

Planning for the community fete on the 22nd of May is well underway. We have a small team of residents who are working hard to make the event a fun day for all residents of Coopers Edge who would like to come along. Attached is a picture of the team holding a planning meeting at the Whittle Inn.
We still have plenty of space for anyone who wants to volunteer to help. It can be as simple as popping up a poster in your window, or we will need help setting up and clearing up on the day, or if you have a suggestion for a stall or an idea for a raffle prize please get in touch. Thanks for all your support.
